Young Pianist, James Wilson Visits Miller South
James Wilson, a student at Hudson High school, recently performed for students at Miller South. He has performed at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall many times, and won first prize for the best Mozart Piece in the Golden Classical Music Awards International competition. He was the only American finalist in an international piano competition in France in 2014, and PBS did a 30-minute program showcasing his special talent. Amazingly, Wilson is a cancer survivor, yet this has not inhibited his ability to study, practice and perform.
Students were inspired by his performance and ask a variety of questions about how difficult it is to prepare and perform with such perfection. Wilson explained that he practiced many hours a day, every day, and was careful when playing sports, so as not to harm his hands. Other than his musical genius, Wilson was a normal American teenager who enjoyed the same things that most teenagers enjoy such as school, friends, and family.
