Principal's Message for the Week of September 28th
Akron Public Schools’ open enrollment begins on October 1, 2025, and runs through December 15. Miller South will be accepting students entering 4th and 6th grade for the 2026/2027 school year. Please see and share our enrollment website with families interested in attending Miller South. 8th-grade students who are interested in attending a high school that is not their home high school, including Akron Early College and STEM High School, must open-enroll.
As we finish our first month of school, we want to say how proud we are of our students for adjusting to being back in school daily. Now that we are in our routines, we want to ensure that students continue to follow our building-wide expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. There are a few things that we will be focusing on this week, and we would appreciate your support. We will be addressing students' running and their voice level in the hallways (SAFETY), disrupting classes by talking when adults or peers are teaching/presenting (RESPECT), and taking care of their items and being on time to class (RESPONSIBILITY).
School pictures will be on Wednesday, October 1. All students will have their school picture taken, whether they purchase it or not, to update student files and for the annual yearbook. To purchase pictures from LifeTouch, you can use picture ID EVT92CGHR.
Firestone's International Baccalaureate coordinator and Miller South alumni in the IB program will be coming to meet with interested 8th-grade students on Wednesday, October 1st. Students will receive an email from Ms. Castle to register for this session on Monday. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Castle.
A message from the PTA: The PTA provides meals and treats to students at various times throughout the school year. We want to be able to accommodate all students' dietary needs, and we don't want anyone to feel excluded from these events. Please complete this survey if your student has an allergy or dietary need. Complete one survey per student who has an allergy. You do not need to complete the survey if your student does not need any accommodations.
This is the last week for the PTA membership drive. Grade level totals will be checked at the end of this week, and the winning class will get a snow cone party in October. To join PTA, please visit link.

Miller South has an open treasurer position. This position entails managing our student accounts. It is a position that offers a stipend, flexible hours, and training. If you are interested in being our treasurer or would like more information, please contact Mrs. Anderson.
