Sunday Star Updates

Principal's Message for the Week of October 6th

Akron Public Schools’ open enrollment is now open and runs through December 15. Miller South will be accepting students entering 4th and 6th grade for the 2026/2027 school year. Please see and share our enrollment website with families interested in attending Miller South. 8th-grade students who are interested in attending a high school that is not their home high school, including Akron Early College and STEM High School, must open-enroll. 8th-grade families, be on the lookout for a newsletter from Ms. Castle with high school information. APS High School open house dates and times are listed in the email.

Our Theater Department is collecting new socks for the month of October. These donations go directly to APS students who are experiencing housing instability and may be housed in shelters. Our goal is to collect 1000 pairs of socks. Students may bring socks to donate to morning meeting at any time during October. Socktober

Dance Department Fundraising:

The Dance Boosters will be sponsoring a Dine-To-Donate at Swensons (40 S. Hawkins Ave.) on Wednesday, October 8th from 5:00-8:00PM. 15% of food and beverage sales will go to the Dance Boosters when THIS IMAGE is presented to the curb server.

The Visual Art Department is launching a merch store on Printify. We have shirts, water bottles, mugs, and even doggie bandanas to show off your Miller South spirit! Email Mrs. Rich with any questions.

Mental Illness Awareness Week begins on Monday 10/6. The school counseling department has partnered with our Theatre 7 class to celebrate this week and bring awareness to mental illness. On Thursday 10/9, we encourage all students to wear green to show their support for those impacted by mental illness.

A message from the PTA: Remember to send in your Acme receipts with your student's name on the back. Students may place receipts in any Acme envelope in the building.  Each receipt is an entry into PTA's first prize drawing.
