Principal's Message for the Week of October 12th
A big shout-out to our 7th-grade theater students who helped us celebrate Mental Health Awareness week with many monologues and skits to show our student body how our words and actions can have an impact on others. Thank you to Ms. Castle, who then provided strategies for students to use in case they were experiencing stress or anxiety. We have had several instances this year where we have had students spreading information through the building that is untrue, and it has caused many issues amongst our students. We have spoken to these groups of students individually and collectively and expressed the importance of reporting things to the office when they see or hear something, not spreading it amongst other students. This will provide the office with firsthand information and will resolve the issue quickly. We ask for your support in talking to your students about reporting things directly to an administrator or counselor versus sharing things with students, as it oftentimes turns into a bad game of telephone.
APS is having a job fair on Monday, October 13, at the Administration Building. Please see the attached flyer for additional information. APS Job Fair
As we review our data from the first month of school, we are pleased to share that the majority of students are meeting our expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. We review these with the students every day and target one area where we feel they are excelling and where we can make improvements. Our data shows that the areas for improvement are being on time to class, not being prepared for class, and hallway behavior. Please review these expectations with your students. Citation Policy
It’s time for Miller South’s Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Students can decorate real or fake pumpkins to enter the contest. Finished pumpkins can be brought to school on October 22nd and 23rd. Please see the attached flyer for contest rules.
