Sunday Star Updates
Principal's Message for the Week of November 5th
Report cards were mailed home earlier this week and should be reaching you soon. They are also available in your child’s home access center. We are so proud to announce that 70% of our student body earned honor roll or merit roll! Thank you for supporting your child and their academics!!
Thank you to the PTA for celebrating our honor roll students. All students who were on the honor roll were treated to breakfast by the PTA. 6-8th graders had their breakfast on Friday and 4th and 5th graders will be treated Monday morning.
A friendly reminder that students should power their phones off and place them in their Yondr bag upon entering the building. We have had a few alarms going off on phones that haven’t been turned off. If your student forgets their Yondr bag, they need to let Mrs. Appleby or Mrs. Anderson know upon entry so that it can be secured. Students are not permitted to have their phones during the school day.
Over the past week, we have had several students “flick” class. When a student is not in their assigned class at the assigned time, they are considered flicking. The only teacher who can give them permission to be elsewhere is the teacher who is assigned to them during that period. We have addressed this the past few mornings during morning meeting so students understand the expectation. Please discuss this with your child as we have told them if they are flicking then they are subject to consequences.
This is the last call for Thrive & Drive Raffle tickets! PTA is selling raffle tickets this fall to support field day and 8th-grade recognition in the spring. This is a great fundraiser as 98% of ticket costs support PTA events! Sales will remain open through Wednesday, November 8. Complete this form and follow payment instructions to purchase tickets.
If you have previously purchased Thrive & Drive raffle tickets but did not fill out the online form, blank raffle tickets were sent home with your student. Those tickets must be completed and returned to the PTA mailbox in the office by Wednesday, November 8.
PTA's Fall spirit wear sale is ongoing. Get your unique student-designed shirts and Miller South spirit wear now through November 12 at THE LINK PROVIDED IN THE EMAIL. Link. Items will be delivered to the school during the week of December 11.
Come out and see the fall play The Giver this week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m. The students have worked very hard to put this show together so come out and support the theater department!
There is no school on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Please go out and exercise your right to vote.
Please check the calendar in the email to see activities for the week. I hope you all have a great evening and we’ll see you tomorrow.
