Sunday Star Updates

Principal's Message for the Week of September 1st

We had a wonderful start to the school year! Thank you so much for your support in helping prepare your students so we could start the year off great!

We held class meetings with individual grade levels on Friday and reviewed our building-wide PBIS expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. We went over, in detail, what this looks like in different areas of our building. Attached is our PBIS matrix for your review.

All Chromebooks were distributed to students this week. Please ensure your child returns to school each day with a charged Chromebook as it is essential to their success in school. Please encourage them to be responsible with their Chromebooks in school and at home.

New students were provided a Yondr bag during class meetings. Beginning Tuesday, our Yondr bag policy will go into effect. Students are expected to place all electronic devices, cell phones, smartwatches, and AirPods/earphones in their Yondr bags upon entry into the building. If they forget their Yondr bag, then they will place their phone on the cart and pick up their phone at dismissal. Any student who needs a replacement Yondr bag must bring $20 to replace the bag before receiving a new one.

Drop-off and pick-up went well the first two days! Please continue to watch for students walking across the lot so we can ensure the safety of all of our students. Parents with students in multiple grade levels may drop off and pick up at one door. You do not have to take one child to door 7 and one to door 12. You can drop them at whichever door is easier for you to maneuver.

"To help our 6th graders stay organized, we are using a binder and planner system. The cost is $15 for the binder, dividers, and planner. Please send the fee by Sept. 4th. Check the email from the 6th-grade team sent on Friday for more info. Let’s create an organized, stress-free environment! #OrganizationMatters #StudentSuccess"

A message from the PTA: PTA is once again collecting Acme community cashback receipts.  Please write your student's name on the back of the receipt and turn it in to the PTA box in the office.  Homeroom envelopes will not be available until September.  Receipts with names are entered into a prize drawing.

The annual student t-shirt design competition will run until Friday, the 6th of September.  All students are encouraged to submit a design based on this year's theme, Believe in Your Story.  The entry form is in the PTA info packet each student should have received, or here.  The artist of the winning design will receive a free t-shirt! Please visit the PTA website for all things PTA.

A reminder that there is no school tomorrow, September 2nd. Please enjoy the extra day off with your family.

Please see the calendar of events in the all call email for events taking place this week. I hope you all have a great evening we’ll see everyone back on Tuesday.
