Principal's Message for the Week of March 9th

Next week is our spring musical, Shrek Jr. To help our student body get engaged in the musical, we will have a Shrek Spirit Week. We encourage all students to “show us who they are” through this spirit week.

A message from the PTA: Thank you to everyone who participated in the PTA fundraiser!  We reached about 94% of the goal, which is wonderful.  PTA is grateful for your support!  Prizes will be delivered with orders on March 26th, and will be available for pick-up after school or during the evening events that day.  More details on the Dave & Busters field trip will be available closer to the date.

The next PTA meeting will be on Wednesday, the 12th of March at 6pm, in the school dining room and online at:link.  We will be discussing upcoming events such as the wellness fair, field day and teacher appreciation.  We will also be discussing nominations for next year's Board.  Please join us as we gear up for the end of the year.

The PTA Wellness Fair will be on March 26th, from 5-7pm at Miller South.  Please plan to join us for free health screenings, community partners, activities, raffles, and other fun.  This event is free and open to the public.  If you are interested in volunteering to help at the fair, please sign up at link.

Educational Talent Search will hold their monthly workshop during lunch periods on Monday. 

This month’s Social-Emotional Learning focus is on Strong Habits of Mind: Flexibility & Strategic Thinker. Students have been introduced to these topics during morning meeting and will explore them more in depth throughout various activities in the month of March. 

Goodyear's STEM Career Day Middle School Event will be held Saturday, April 5th at Firestone CLC. This event brings students in grades 6 through 8 together to have fun while highlighting many opportunities in STEM. Students will participate in a hands-on engineering activity, various STEM-related interactive activities, an informational fair, and more! Bussing and lunch will be provided to students who register.  Registration closes on March 16th. Students can register at the link here. If they need assistance, please have them contact their school counselor, Ms. Castle. 

8th grade students interested in learning about the Law and Leadership Institute should plan to attend the informational session scheduled for Friday, March 14th during their lunch period. Students received an email from Ms. Castle with information about how to sign up for this session. The deadline for students to apply to the Law and Leadership Institute is Tuesday, March 25th. 

Applications are currently open to 8th grade students interested in applying to The Ohio State University’s Young Scholars Program. The deadline to apply is March 15th. Please contact Ms. Castle for general questions regarding the program. Specific questions can be sent to the YSP coordinator, Yalonda Hawkins, at hawkins.740@osu.edu

A reminder that the building does close each day at 4:00 PM. There have been adults in the building during Shrek practices, but with the show concluding, the building will close again at 4:00 PM. Please make arrangements for all students to be picked up by that time. The library is always available if needed.
