Principal's Message for the Week of March 16th

Thank you to all of you who came out and supported our theater department and their performance of Shrek Jr. this weekend. The students did an amazing job performing six shows over three days.Thank you to the parents who came out and offered support for our elementary performance. We had over 800 students from our district here to experience their talents.

Our 2nd Annual Arts Integration Night will be held on Wednesday, March 26 from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Last year we had a great turnout and we hope to have the same this year. Please come out and see the amazing projects and activities that our academic teachers put a lot of time and effort into to ensure that your children receive a well rounded experience. There will be refreshments and raffle prizes available.

We begin our spring testing window this week with quarterly assessments. Students will take these during their core classes over the next few weeks. Teachers have worked to schedule the assessments so that students are not taking all tests in one day. Please make sure that students have charged chromebooks each day.

We will be holding class meetings this week. We are beginning to see several behaviors creep into the school environment that we don’t feel meet our building wide expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. We want all of our students to finish the year with a positive way so we will be addressing the following topics, kindness, reporting concerns, technology (social media and chromebook usage), circle of control, building transitions/being where you are supposed to be. Our goal is to always share with the students what we expect of them to help them be successful. 

A message from the PTA: The Miller South PTA Wellness Fair is coming up!  Free wellness screenings, raffle prizes, and community partners will all be here on March 26, from 5pm to 7pm.  This event is free and open to the public.  Please join us and invite your friends/family to come as well.  If you would like to volunteer to assist at the event, please sign up at link.

Spring book fair is almost here.  For more information and to set up an ewallet please visit the fair's homepage.  If you would like to help at the fair during lunch periods or after school, please sign up here. 

PTA will once again be providing snacks for every Miller South student during every OST testing session.  This is about 2000 servings of snacks over the course of testing.  If you would like to donate snacks or help assemble snack baggies, please sign up here.  PTA will be purchasing any snacks not donated, every student will receive snacks for every test session.  If your student has any allergy issues (gluten-free, nut-free, etc.) please complete this form so we can make sure we have allergy-free bags prepared. 

The spring spirit wear sale closes tonight.  

Spring Art Show: The Visual Art students will have their annual spring art show on May 3rd from 1-4 PM at First Glance Student Center in Kenmore. Every art student will have several pieces of art on display. Admission is $5 cash or PayPal and visual art students are free. There will not be a silent auction fundraiser this year, yet the location change requires the purchase of additional supplies to display the art. If anyone would like to support our program by becoming an Art Patron or donating to our Art Booster Amazon Wishlist, it would be greatly appreciated.

The end of the 3rd quarter is on Friday, March 28. Please review your child’s home access center to ensure that all assignments are complete and turned in.
