Principal's Message for the Week of January 19th

Tuesday will begin the second semester. Students will be provided with a copy of their new schedule during morning meeting. They are also available on their home access center. 

As previously mentioned, Akron Public Schools will begin implementing a Visitor Management System on January 27. Anyone visiting the building and interacting with students (chaperoning field trips, volunteering, etc.) must have a valid photo ID upon entering. Visitors will scan their ID at the kiosk in the main entrance, the system will check the ID and print a visitor pass to the main office. Visitors MUST report to the main office to obtain their visitor pass. Please see the attached Raptor letter for additional information. We will follow our normal procedures for day and evening performances.

A message from the PTA: The January PTA meeting will be this Wednesday at 6pm.  We will be meeting virtually at link.  Since this meeting is online only, we will meet even if there is a snow day.  Please join us as we discuss the many events coming up for the second semester.

On January 29th and 30th, PTA will host the second grading period Honor Roll Pancake Breakfast.  Help us celebrate Miller South's outstanding scholars by signing up at link.  If your student needs a gluten free option, please complete the form.

This is the last 30 days for Acme receipts.  Please send in those receipts with your student's name on the back to be entered into the final prize drawing.

The Orchestra and steel band performance will be on Thursday, January 23 at 7:00. There are several morning performances for students this week.

Akron Public Schools will host a Talent Fair on Tuesday, January 21 from 9 AM -12 PM and 4-6 PM. If you know anyone looking for job opportunities please share this information with them. See attached flyer for additional information.

Goalgetta Academy is putting on the 5th Annual Success is the Only Option Teen Career Day on March 15. They are looking for a talented artist to design their t-shirt. Please see the attached flyers to enter the design contest and register for Career Day. 

Just a reminder that there is no school Monday, January 20. Please see the calendar in the email for events taking place this week. I hope you all had a nice long weekend and we’ll see everyone back on Tuesday. Go Bucks!
