Principal's Message for the Week of January 14th

2nd quarter report cards are complete and have been mailed home. You should be receiving them this week. In the meantime, you can view report cards on your home access center.

Please encourage your students to clean out their backpacks. As we checked bags this week, we noticed many bags that contained food items and wrappers that had been there for quite some time. Please have them clean out their bags to remove any trash, unnecessary items, and old assignments.

A message from the PTA - please save the date for the next PTA meeting which will be online Monday, January 22 at 6 pm.

The 7th/8th-grade concert band will have a mandatory practice on Thursday after school until 5:00. All concert band students must be in attendance. Click the link to hear the concert band pay tribute to the Stay in the Game campaign.

A friendly reminder that students are dismissed from school at 3:15 pm.  Pick-up should occur by 3:30 pm.  When there are extenuating circumstances and pick-up does not occur by 3:30 students will report to the dining room and wait for a parent to arrive. The office closes at 4:30 so all students must be picked up by that time. Remember the library on V.Odom is always available to students if parents cannot pick up on time.  

If your child is interested in STEM, there are several opportunities for them to participate in activities and learn about careers in the STEM field this semester. Please see the information in the all-call email for programs.

STEM Girls Power Hour at Bridgestone Americas Technology Center - January 30 5:30PM–7PM
Free. Mentoring event showcasing inspiring women role models and empowering young girls to take their place on any field. Takes place at Bridgestone Americas Technology Center on South Main Street.

University of Akron Engineering Department "Kids Career Day" - March 2 2024 8 am -12noon
$20 registration fee.  Hands-on activities in STEM and learn about careers.  Grades 1 - 6th. Takes place at UAkron campus. 

Goodyear STEM Career Day - April 27, 2024 8 am - 2:30 pm
Free. Hands-on STEM activities and learn about careers. Grades 6 - 8.  Takes place at Firestone CLC.

Goodyear Rube Goldberg Challenge - initial submission March 15, 2024

There is no school on Monday, January 15 as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
