Principal's Message for the Week of December 15th

Congratulations to our dancers on a wonderful performance Friday evening. They did a beautiful job showing us how to be leaders through their dance.

Next week will be Spirit week. Students are encouraged to get as festive as possible, school appropriate of course, so that we can enjoy the last week before winter break. The ugly sweater contest will be on Friday along with a school dance for students in grades 5 through 8. The cost of the dance is $2. Tickets will be sold on Thursday and Friday.

The 8th grade Visual Art students are having our annual Craft Show on December 18, 19 & 20th during lunch in the Dining Room. Items were made by students and all proceeds will be split amongst students to help pay for their trip to Pittsburgh in March. There will be an after-school shopping time for parents after school on Thursday until 4 PM. Only cash will be accepted and items cannot be held. Items are $1-10 each and include cards, bookmarks, vases, clay animals and ornaments, jewelry, hair accessories, how-to-draw books, dog bandanas, pins and buttons, candles, T-shirts, and tote bags. Students can view items for sale in the display case near door 3. 

Congratulations to the 4th and 5th grade visual art students who have had their work chosen for this year's APS Mayor's Show! Students will receive an invitation in the mail. You can see their work here in the slideshow. Students who had their work chosen for the APS Holiday Cards will have their cards sent to important members of the Akron community, and you can also see those pieces in the slideshow.

A message from the PTA: As you do your winter break shopping, remember to save your Acme receipts.  Write your student's name on the back and turn them in when school starts again in January.

There will be a rapid release fire drill on Friday, December 20. The fire drill will sound between 3:10 and 3:15 and all students must exit the building to their rides. Please do your best to have your ride here by 3:30. The office will close at 4:00.
