Sunday Star Updates

Principal's Message for the Week of April 6th

Thank you for your support in getting students to school on time for testing last week. We only had a few tardy students, and that helped set the tone for the testing environment. This week, we will be taking the math OST on Tuesday and Wednesday. Again, please have your students here on time and with a charged Chromebook. If your child eats breakfast at school, please do your best to have them here by 7:45 a.m. so that they have time to eat before testing.

Monday, April 7, is your last opportunity to add, change, or drop an interest area for the 25/26 school year. All of the information has been emailed, and it is also attached in the email. Please reach out to the appropriate art teachers with any questions.

Internal Auditions
Now is the time we begin scheduling for the 2025-2026 academic year. Students planning to continue with their current arts interest areas do not need to participate in the internal audition process. All current 4th graders and any 5th-7th graders wishing to make a change- please review the information below.

Please review the Internal Audition Requirements for detailed information for each Arts Area. If you have any questions regarding audition preparation, contact the appropriate arts teacher.

Current 5th-7th grade students wishing to ADD, CHANGE, or DROP an art interest area for next year must complete the Add or Change Interest Area Form. (Students planning to continue with their current arts interest areas do not need to participate in the internal audition process)
TO ADD: students must first audition and be accepted into the new interest area. In addition, the added interest area must be compatible with your child’s schedule.
TO DROP: students and parents must conference with their current arts teacher.
The form is DUE April 7, 2025 and IF your selection requires an audition, please contact the corresponding arts teacher by April 11th. Internal Auditions will take place prior to Spring Break: April 14-17, 2025. Results of the audition process will be communicated by May 1st.

ALL current 4th grade students must complete the Interest Area Selection Form for their 5th grade year. Next year they will have 2 periods of art; at this time you will need to select the area they would like to add to their schedule.
Areas requiring an audition to add: Visual Art, Dance, Theatre, Piano, Vocal
Areas with NO audition required: Band, Strings
The form is DUE April 7, 2025.  IF your selection requires an audition, please contact the corresponding arts teacher by April 11th.  Auditions will take place prior to Spring Break: April 14-17, 2025. Results of the audition process will be communicated by May 1st.

We appreciate all of your support in ensuring that we keep a safe environment for staff and students. Here are a few reminders. If you are visiting the building to meet with a staff member or volunteer, you must scan your ID into the Raptor system. If you are just dropping something off or signing out your student, you do not need to use Raptor. If you are signing out your child, you must come to the main office to sign them out so that we can verify that you are the guardian.

STEM High School will have a 7th-grade visitation day on Thursday, April 10, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. See attached flyer for information.

Firestone CLC will have 7th-grade visitation day on Wednesday, April 16, from 8:45 - 11:15 am. Space is limited, so registration is required. Please see the attached flyer for registration information.
