Sunday Star Updates

Principal's Message for the Week of April 21st

We are off to a great start for OST testing. Students have done a great job following our testing expectations by being prepared with their charged Chromebooks and they have been focused during the testing environment. We will be testing math and science this week on Tuesday and Thursday. Students will need a pair of headphones, preferably wired, for testing. Please remind your child to bring their headphones with them.

A big THANK YOU to the PTA, drama boosters, and everyone else who donated snacks for the students while taking their OST. The students have been so appreciative and we have seen them more focused during testing. We appreciate your help in making the testing environment as productive for students as possible.

4th quarter interims will be entered this week. We will mail these home on Thursday or Friday of this week. Please make sure that you are still monitoring your child’s home access so that they can finish the year strong.

The Miller South Last day of school t-shirt order form has gone home with students. It is also linked in the all-call email. It is a tradition that students purchase the shirt for friends and staff to sign on the last day of school. Shirts are $10 for sizes up to large and $15 for anything XL and above. Orders are due by Monday, April 29.

A message from the PTA. The spirit wear orders have come in, and they look great. If you chose to pick up at school, pick up will be on Monday, April 22 from 2:30 - 3:20 at door 1.
In honor of National Volunteer Week, the PTA would like to acknowledge and thank ALL the Miller South volunteers. Whether you helped with a PTA event, an arts area Booster event, a field trip, or in any other way, Miller South would not be the unique and wonderful place it is without your support.
Please join us for the April PTA meeting at 6 pm in the dining room, or online at link.

We now have a school store that will remain open year-round!! You can also purchase the field trip t-shirt on this website.

As we near the end of the school year and the weather warms, we are starting to see more behaviors that do not meet our PBIS expectations. Please remind students of appropriate behaviors for school so we can end the school year on a positive note. We expect them to be safe, respectful, and responsible in all areas of the building. They can do this by being in their assigned classes at the appropriate times, keeping their hands to themselves, and being respectful by following adult requests. We also expect them to dress appropriately for school. Dresses, shorts, and skirts need to be fingertip length, no midriffs should be seen, and tank tops need to be three fingers wide. If you are unsure if your child’s clothing is appropriate I would suggest packing an extra outfit so we do not have to disrupt you at work for a change of clothes.

Any student interested in jazz band should see the Jazz Band Audition information from Mrs. Hughes. Auditions will be on May 23. Now is a good time to begin practicing the music. Click the link for additional information.

If you haven’t already done so, please consider completing the district Transcend survey. This provides information to the district on our strengths and areas for improvement.

Please see the calendar of events in the all-call email for events taking place this week. I hope you have a great evening and we’ll see everyone tomorrow.
