The RoadRokr 5k was originally inspired by the absolutely fantastic PorchRokr Arts & Music Festival that is held annually in Highland Square. If you've never been, you simply must carve out the day to come back and enjoy the magic!

Over the years, this event has evolved into an entity of its own - a morning to celebrate running, music, community, and Miller South! The morning begins with a rockin' National Anthem performance by one of Miller South's very own guitarists. The course winds through the charming streets of Highland Square, beginning and ending at Will Christy Park. Along the course, keep an eye out and an ear open for some sweet, sweet music provided by Miller South students. There is a water stop at the halfway point. (and maybe just a couple hills... teehee) As usual, you can expect a super cool tie dye t-shirt designed by, of course, a Miller South Alumnus! :) Details on that coming soon.

Stick around after for awards after the race! Then head home, clean up, and come back to enjoy a beautiful day full of remarkable talent and an overwhelming sense of community.

Our Cause

The proceeds from our race go straight to the Miller South Instrumental Music Department!

Miller South is a public middle school in Akron, OH that offers programs for students in visual art, dance, theatre, and music. Starting in 4th grade, students are given the opportunity to start pursuing a future in the art pathway of their choosing in addition to the required core curriculum. The instrumental department, in particular, receives very little funding on a yearly basis. They rely on their own fund raising and donations from evening performances to cover the costs of their needs throughout the year. These needs include purchasing sheet music, providing instruments for students, instrument repairs, and many other things!

We LOVE Miller South and the amazing opportunities they offer for young musicians in the Akron area. In fact, there are even several bands playing at PorchRokr that are comprised primarily of Miller South alumni! SO COOL! We want to help Miller South keep thriving and we want to keep the Highland Square porches rockin' for years to come!
