Alex Funk is an actor, director and teacher in the Akron area. He attended Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical School's Performing Arts Program in Columbus, OH from 2005-2008. He was awarded the Anita C. Miller Scholarship for Outstanding Theatre Artist in 2008. He attended college at The University of Akron studying under local theatre artist, James Slowiak of New World Performance Lab, for acting and directing. Alex was awarded the Guildie for Best Actor in a MainStage Production in 2014 and was a three time acting nominee for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts along with a licensure to teach Drama/Theatre in grades K-12. He has worked as an actor and teacher for Ohio Shakespeare Festival, Weathervane Playhouse, Rubber City Theatre, The Salvation Army of Akron and The Greater Cleveland Aquarium.  Alex specializes in improvisation with invisible objects, creative movement, Shakespeare, and character transformation. This will be his fifth year teaching at Miller South.
