Principal's Message

Hello Miller South Families!!

My name is Carolyn Herstich and I will be the building administrator at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts this 2019-2020 academic year.

I can't believe we are already starting Marking Period 2!
Parents please support our staff as we try to start your student off successfully. Please note that we encourage students who need support to learn to advocate for themselves by contacting their teachers directly. Students must learn to hold themselves accountable and take responsibility for their success. Staff to student relationships are a direct connection to the classroom content. We have a new STAFF DIRECTORY to support this positive change in our school. Parents, please discuss with your child the expectation to keep their hands to themselves. Often times middle school students consider this behavior playful, however things can change to a disciplinary situation quickly which they will have to take responsibility for their behavior and consequences if it becomes a negative situation. Also, please discuss with your child the importance of the words that use with each other through their voice, text/email messages and social media. Comments made in or out of school that have a negative impact on our learning environment can receive consequences and any threats or harmful language will be taken seriously. Please ask your child to be kind and polite with their peers and remind them that good manners go a long way and they are an essential skill for success! We want to work together to help raise students who become independent young adults and good people! :)

We want to make sure all families are informed of news and information at the building. If you are NOT receiving the weekly message at 6 o'clock via phone/email, please contact the school office to update your emergency contact information. Also, please subscribe below for Monthly Memos regarding upcoming events and activities in our building.
